South Korea’s Busan Port Authority (BPA) is expanding a rail yard in the south of Busan Newport by 28,000 square meters.

In the rail yard, more space is needed to store containers. To eliminate operation troubles and revitalize the yard, as such, the BPA will enlarge it into a hinterland. So far, fences have been built at the site, and ground reinforcement and several other projects have been completed. When existing gates are removed, and electrical work is finished, installing illuminations and other facilities, the port authority plans to have the expanded rail yard in service in the first half of 2024.

The operator of the 6,800-square-meter existing rail yard will be responsible for the expanded yard, too. Adding the new yard to its business, the operator will offer higher efficiency services.
