The Shanghai Shipping Exchange (SSE) recently announced freight rates for containerized shipments exported from China in Week 10. The China Containerized Freight Index stood at 1,912.3 points, down 3% from the 1,970.58 points registered a week earlier. The Shanghai Containerized Freight Index (SCFI), the index for spot rates for ex-Shanghai containers, fell 3.1% from 2,720.94 points to 2,637.53 points.

The CCFI for shipments destined to Europe slid 7.5% to 2,960.77 points, while the index for those to the Mediterranean picked up 1.9% to 3,334.37 points. On the trans-Pacific route, the indexes sank slightly to both the east and west coasts of North America, going down 0.7% to 1,524.05 points and 0.1% to 1,335.48 points, respectively.

As for other trades, the CCFIs came down 4.6% to 1,884.62 points for containers to the Middle East and the Red Sea but up 3.1% to 1,558.03 points for those to Australia and New Zealand. On the route to South America, the index depreciated 2.4% to 1,784.38 points; on that to Japan, 0.1% to 893.82 points; and on that to Southeast Asia, 0.9% to 1,455.98 points.
