Container trade between South Korea and China was brisk in January, as the Chinese economy was on a recovery track. A total of 286,097 TEUs were moved on the route, up 18.22%, according to the Yellow Sea Liner Shipping Council (YSLSC).
Exports from South Korea to China surged 30.31% to 102,431 TEUs, made up of 95,373 TEUs of those moved locally on the trade, up 28.58%, and 7,058 TEUs of feeder shipments, up 59.25%.
Meanwhile, containers from China to South Korea swelled 12.41% to 183,666 TEUs. Pure imports accounted for 173,486 TEUs, up 13.58%, while the remaining 10,180 TEUs were feeder containers, down 4.48%.
