A total of 2,704,600 TEUs of containers were traded between South Korea and China in the first 11 months (January-November) of 2020, which grew 4.5% year on year from 2,588,400 TEUs, according to the Yellow Sea Liner Shipping Council (YSLSC).
As for shipments moved directly on the route, exports from South Korea to China swelled 7% to 960,700 TEUs, while imports from China to South Korea hiked 2% to 1,511,300 TEUs. Those moved in feeder services on the trade were more favorable, surging 10% to 232,500 TEUs.
Container trade on the South Korea-China route turned upward in March, when China resumed economic activities. In September, moreover, it soared 16.9% from a year earlier, and in October, it increased 9% to exceed the 300,000-TEU line to total 307,300 TEUs. It is growing more and more massively now.
