Philippine ports handled 106.2 million tons nationwide in the first six months of the year. The figure represents a decline of 19% from the same period last year, according to the Philippine Ports Authority (PPA). International cargoes tumbled 20.4% year on year to 62.1 million tons while domestic volumes plunged 15.8% from a year earlier to 44.0 million tons.

The double-digit decrease is attributable to the novel coronavirus pandemic.
