It is reported in the U.S. that local customs brokers are in trouble. Amid the protracted federal government shutdown, many customs employees are on furlough, preventing various duty refund formalities from being completed.

The confrontation between President Donald Trump, who insists on building a border wall with Mexico, and the opposition Democratic Party, which is against it, had not been resolved. On Dec. 22, 2018, as a consequence, some federal budgets expired. Governmental agencies have since been closed for more than a month.

Imports to the U.S. are smoothly made, as there are thousands of customs brokers. As federal agencies have gone out of service, numeral officials have been on furlough at the Customs and Border Protection (CBP) as well, making duty refund programs on hold.
