Japan’s Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism (MLIT) announced on Oct. 6 that it will conduct a survey in detail on cargo movement across the nation on three days later this month. Beginning in 1970, the quinquennial survey will be carried out for the 10th time. The survey will be conducted among some 65,000 enterprises engaged in mining, manufacturing, wholesaling and warehousing services. After collecting survey sheets and aggregating and analyzing data, the ministry is scheduled to unveil findings at the end of fiscal 2016.

The survey will focus on the movement of each cargo to be shipping on Oct. 20-22, but an outline of shipments that were delivered to and from the 65,000 businesses from April 2014 to March 2015 will also be compiled. The MLIT will collect all survey sheets by Nov. 13 and then begin aggregating and analyzing data.
