Exports of used automobiles amounted to 83,970 units in February 2013, increasing 3.9% from a year earlier, according to the International Auto Trade Association (iATA). From a month earlier, they surged 58.29%, registering a month-on-month improvement for two months in a row.

A report compiled from trade statistics by the Tokyo-based association indicated that exports of secondhand motor vehicles to Russia were greater in number than those to any other destination, soaring 86.94% year on year to 12,869 units.

Russia was followed by Myanmar, to which 11,435 units were exported, ballooning 78.5%. Exports to the United Arab Emirates (UAE) totaled 7,116 units, surging 21.91% and helping the nation finish in third place. Those to New Zealand, which came in fourth, grew a remarkable 36.74% to 6,524 units.

Those to Chile were also brisk, swelling 71.09% to 6,291 units and making the country take fifth place.
