Systems will be connected between the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism (MLIT) of Japan and Shanghai Luojing Port.

In partnership with Shanghai Luojing Port, the MLIT’s Ports and Harbors Bureau will on Dec. 9, 2011 link the ministry’s container logistics information service system with the Chinese port’s terminal system.

The MLIT’s system, which is known as ''Colins,'' is a Web site that enables terminal operators, shippers, forwarders and other transporters, and other relevant business operators to share information on container logistics.

In transporting international containers by sea, it is necessary to obtain information on container logistics from other countries.

As such, Japan will shortly begin cooperating with Shanghai Luojing Port as a first step of its efforts to work hand in hand with other nations.

It is expected the collaboration will visualize ship movement, container traffic and other items of logistics information, leading to improving logistics efficiency.
