Global container freight volumes will increase this year, but in a slower growth rate compared with 2010, according to a report released by the Chinese Academy of Sciences'(CAS) Centre for Forecasting Sciences, said China Daily.

Chinese ports will remain the busiest in the world, accounting for half the world's top 20 ports. The average growth of the 20 ports will be at between 8.5% and 10.3% in 2011, down from an increase of 15.2% in the previous year.

Shanghai will remain as the busiest container port with estimated throughput of between 32.13 million TEUs and 32.54 million TEUs, followed by; Singapore with volume of 29.34 ? 2988 million TEUs; Hong Kong with 24.38 ? 24.84 million TEUs; Shenzhen with23.32 ? 23.66 million TEUs; and Busan with 16.15 - 16.41 million TEUs.
