China's export market demand for container transport remained flat in general last week. Shanghai Shipping Exchange's China (Export) Containerized Freight Index (CCFI) closed at 982.13 points and Shanghai Containerized Freight Index closed at 1030.13, compared with 981.65 and 1024.77 in the previous week, respectively.

During the week ended on July 1, CCFI on the trade from China to Europe fell slightly by 0.7% to 1113.41 points and on the Mediterranean trade, the index remained unchanged t 1248.82 points.

On the transpacific routes, container volume during the week rebounded slightly with an average tonnage utilization of 90%. Freight rate (ocean freight plus surcharges) from Shanghai to the U.S. West Coast stood at $1,652, up 1.2% from the previous week and that from Shanghai to the U.S. East Coast was $3,113, up 2.6% week on week.
