Container volumes handled at South Korean ports in June totaled 1.692 million TEUs, up 25.8% from 1.345 million TEUs in the same period last year, according to statistics compiled by the Ministry of Land Transport and Maritime Affairs. This is the second-highest monthly traffic volume following the 1.705 million TEUs which was recorded last month (May 2010)

Approximately 74% of the total volume was handled at Busan which achieved record 1.259 million TEUs in June. Throughput at Kwangyang, the second busiest container port in South Korea, rose

For the first six months, the nation's box traffic amounted to 9.491 million TEUs, representing a 24.8% increase over the same period last year.
