The Port of Tomakomai in the northernmost Japanese prefecture of Hokkaido processed 175,551 TEUs of international containerized shipments in 2025, according to preliminary statistics unveiled by the Tomakomai Port Authority. Including containers moved to and from the port in feeder services, overall throughput added up to 228,758 TEUs, down 2%.

Looking at foreign-trade containers, 85,065 TEUs were exported, down 1.5%, and 90,486 TEUs were imported, down 1.3%. As for containers moved on board feeder vessels, 26,865 TEUs were outbound, down 6.7%, and 26,342 TEUs were inbound, down 1%, for a total of 53,207 TEUs, down 4%. Meanwhile, domestic containers amounted to 44,021 TEUs, down 14.1%, for a total volume of 272,779 TEUs, down 4.2%.

Tomakomai handled 101.71 million tons of seaborne cargo, up 1.7%, of which 1.38 million tons were exported, up 5.9%; 16.6 million tons were imported, up 11.9%; 42.81 million tons were delivered out, up 2.1%; and 40.92 million tons were delivered in, down 2.5%.
