The Port of Nagoya handled 209,543 TEUs of foreign-trade containers in February, up 4.6% year on year for two back-to-back months of growth, according to preliminary statistics revealed by the Nagoya Port Authority (NPA).

Individually, volumes increased 19.9% to 93,152 TEUs at Nabeta Pier Container Terminal, 5% to 22,755 TEUs at Tobishima Pier South Container Terminal, and 2.5-fold to 8,589 TEUs at Tobishima Pier North Container Terminal, a notable increase for the second consecutive month. On the other hand, throughput fell 5.6% to 49,558 TEUs at Tobishima Pier South Side Container Terminal and 21.2% to 35,489 TEUs at NCB Container Terminal.

In the first two months (January-February), 411,526 TEUs were processed at Nagoya in total, up 4.3%. By terminal, volumes grew 11.2% to 188,391 TEUs at Nabeta Pier Container Terminal, 2.8% to 96,373 TEUs at Tobishima Pier South Side Container Terminal, 16.8% to 45,509 TEUs at Tobishima Pier South Container Terminal, and 173.1% to 15,282 TEUs at Tobishima Pier North Container Terminal. In contrast, containers to and from NCB Container Terminal plunged 24% to 65,957 TEUs. Other facilities were responsible for 14 TEUs.
