The latest KOBC Container Composite Index (KCCI) stood at 1,879 points on Monday, according to Korea Ocean Business Corp. (KOBC). Spot rates for container exports from Busan increased on most trade lanes, lifting the index 6.34% from a week earlier.
On the main lanes, the individual KCCIs were up 0.49% to 2,046 points to the U.S. West Coast, up 1.72% to 3,013 points to the U.S. East Coast, up 6.31% to 2,461 points to Europe, and up 10.93% to 3,573 points to the Mediterranean.
On the non-main lanes, the KCCIs were down 5.51% to 1,492 points to Australia but up 21.51% to 4,401 points to the Middle East, up 13.63 points to 2,701 points to the east coast of Latin America, up 4.97% to 2,765 points to the west coast of Latin America, up 4.52% to 2,796 points to Southern Africa, and up 9.56% to 3,517 points to West Africa.
The KCCIs were stable within Asia, up 4.28% to 902 points to Southeast Asia, up 1.96% to 52 points to China and unchanged at 220 points to Japan.
KOBC unveils the comprehensive and individual KCCIs for spot rates for container exports from Busan to U.S., Europe and 11 other major destinations that include terminal handling and other charges. The comprehensive index is the weighted average of the 13 individual indices, which reflect container movements and other factors on the 13 trades.
