The latest KOBC Container Composite Index (KCCI) quoted 1,597 points on Monday, according to Korea Ocean Business Corp. (KOBC). Spot rates for container exports from Busan decreased on most trade lanes, pushing down the index 5.11% from a week earlier for the third consecutive week of decline.

The individual KCCIs fell across the board on the main lanes, going down 6.81% to 1,58 points to the U.S. West Coast, 4.55% to 2,854 points to the U.S. East Coast, 5.2% to 2,407 points to Europe, and 7.51% to 3,483 points to the Mediterranean.

On the non-main lanes, the KCCIs stood at 2,046 points to the Middle East, down 7.42%; 1,927 points to Australia, down 7.62%; 1,556 points to the east coast of Latin America, down 2.83%; 1,248 points to the west coast of Latin America, up 0.73%; 2,760 points to Southern Africa, down 4.17%; and 3,084 points to West Africa, down 0.8%.

In the intra-Asia region, the KCCIs stayed flat at 219 points to Japan but waned 1.89% to 52 points to China and 1.99% to 888 points to Southeast Asia.

KOBC unveils the comprehensive and individual KCCIs for spot rates for container exports from Busan to U.S., Europe and 11 other major destinations that include terminal handling and other charges. The comprehensive index is the weighted average of the 13 individual indices, which reflect container movements and other factors on the 13 trades.
