Ishikari Bay New Port in the Japanese northernmost prefecture of Hokkaido handled 47,281 TEUs of foreign-trade containers in 2025, down 2.6% from the previous calendar year, according to preliminary figures unveiled by the Ishikari Bay New Port Authority.

Exports accounted for 22,873 TEUs, down 4.3%, and imports, 24,408 TEUs, down 1%. As for the top three export items, recycled materials amounted to 2,376 TEUs, down 4.3%; fishery products, 1,589 TEUs, down 5.1%; and auto parts and components, 988 TEUs, up 18%. Meanwhile, the three major import commodities were wood products, which numbered 7,096 TEUs, up 1.7%; furniture, 3,186 TEUs, down 5.7%; and “other” daily necessities, 2,803 TEUs, down 5.9%.
