The latest KOBC Container Composite Index (KCCI) quoted 1,800 points on Monday, Korea Ocean Business Corp. (KOBC) announced on the same day. The composite index declined 1.59% from a week earlier as spot rates for container exports from Busan decreased on the routes to Europe and the Mediterranean.

On the main lanes, the individual KCCIs increased 1.46% to 2,566 points to the U.S. West Coast and 0.87% to 3,606 points to the U.S. East Coast. In contrast, the KCCIs decreased 5.51% to 2,162 points to Europe and 4.95% to 2,881 points to the Mediterranean.

On the non-main lanes, the KCCIs went up 0.32% to 2,226 points to the Middle East, 0.28% to 1,777 points to Australia and 0.96% to 1,891 points to the west coast of Latin America. On the other hand, the KCCIs went down 12.58% to 1,946 points to the east coast of Latin America and 1.91% to 2,977 points to Southern Africa.

In the intra-Asia waters, the KCCIs slid across the board, down 0.77% to 257 points to Japan, 2.04% to 48 points to China and 0.43% to 1,157 points to Southeast Asia.

KOBC unveils the comprehensive and individual KCCIs for spot rates for container exports from Busan to U.S., Europe and 11 other major destinations that include terminal handling and other charges. The comprehensive index is the weighted average of the 13 individual indices, which reflect container movements and other factors on the 13 trades.
