Chinese ports handled 1.53 billion tons of shipments in November, up 3.7% year on year, according to the nation’s transport ministry. Coastal ports processed 948.9 million tons, up 3.2%, and inland river ports, 586.7 million tons.
Container throughput totaled 28.1 million TEUs, up 4.7%, of which 24.6 million TEUs were to and from coastal ports, up 4.9%, and 3.5 million TEUs to and from inland river ports, up 3.6%.
In the first 11 months (January-November), Chinese ports handled a total of 16.04 billion tons, up 3.4%, consisting of 10.27 billion tons at coastal ports, up 3.4%, and 5.77 billion tons at inland river ports, up 3.5%.
Containers to and from Chinese ports amounted to 304.5 million TEUs, up 7.3%, of which coastal ports were responsible for 267.5 million TEUs, up 7.6%, and inland river ports, 37 million TEUs, up 5.2%.
