The Port of Yokohama processed 215,474 TEUs of foreign-trade containers in August, down 0.7% year on year, according to the city of Yokohama’s Port and Harbor Bureau. Domestic containers accounted for 24,789 TEUs, down 5%, making the total volume 240,263 TEUS, down 1.1%.

Breaking down foreign-trade containers, 113,320 TEUs were exported, up 1.5%, and 102,154 TEUs were imported, down 3%.

In the first eight months (January-August), Yokohama handled 1.8 million TEUs of foreign-trade containers, up 3.4%, which consisted of 957,201 TEUs of exports, up 3.9%, and 845,439 TEUs of imports, up 2.7%. Domestic containers totaled 210,255 TEUs, down 5%, for an overall throughput of two million TEUs, up 2.4%.
