The Port of Osaka handled 190,844 TEUs of oceangoing containers in October, which jumped 11.8% from a year earlier for a year-on-year improvement for two back-to-back months. Exports accounted for 88,664 TEUs, up 10%, and imports, 102,220 TEUs, up 13.5%.

As for laden containers, 40,087 TEUs were exported, up 11.8%, and 99,713 TEUs were imported, up 14.8%, for a total of 139,800 TEUs, up 13.9%, while the remaining 51,084 TEUs were empty containers, up 6.3%.

In the first 10 months (January-October), Osaka processed 1.67 million TEUs, up 1%, exporting 747,071 TEUs, down 1.9%, and importing 919,384 TEUs, up 3.5%.

Exports of laden containers amounted to 329,091 TEUs, up 2.6%, and imports, 890,241 TEUs, up 3.5%, for a total of 1.22 million TEUs, up 3.2%. Empties totaled 447,122 TEUs, down 4.6%.
