The Port of Yokohama handled 245,031 TEUs of foreign trade containers in October 2023, up 2.3% from a year earlier, according to the city of Yokohama’s Port and Harbor Bureau. The total volume of containerized shipments, including domestic ones, amounted to 272,740 TEUs, up 1.3%.

Growth was obtained in both exports and imports, up 3% to 131,521 TEUs and up 2.8% to 113,510 TEUs, respectively. Meanwhile, domestic containers totaled 27,709 TEUs, down 11.5%.

In January-October, 2.49 million TEUs of containers were moved to and from Yokohama, up 0.7%. Exports accounted for 1.17 million TEUs, up 1.2%, and imports, 1.04 million TEUs, up 1.8%, for a total of 2.22 million TEUs, up 1.5%. To and from other ports in Japan, 275,494 TEUs were carried, down 5.2%.
