There are almost no abnormalities at container terminals in ports on the Noto Peninsula in Japan, which was hit hard by devastating earthquakes on Jan. 1, according to the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism (MLIT)’s Hokuriku Regional Development Bureau.

As for the ports with container wharves under the management of the bureau, there are no problems at Niigata East Port. No damage is found at Naoetsu or Fushiki-Toyama Port. There were sagging roads, but they have been restored. At Kanazawa Port, there were cave-ins. Gantry cranes 1 and 2 are available for use. The port will decide whether it will have quays in service or not based on investigations. There is no damage to Gokuden Container Terminal.
At Tsuruga Port, investigations were made on Jan. 2, which found no problems.
