The Tokyo Metropolitan Government (TMG)'s Bureau of Port and Harbor, Tokyo Port Terminal Corp. and the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism (MLIT)'s Kanto Regional Development Bureau will join forces in August and September for booking-based container deliveries to and from the Port of Tokyo's Oi Container Terminal. It will be the first project at the port to use port information system Container Fast Pass (CONPAS).

The project will be carried out on Aug. 22-Sept. 2 at the terminal's berths Nos. 1 and 2 (lessee: Kawasaki Kisen Kaisha; operator: Daito Corp.). Loaded and empty containers will be carried out of the berths, while empties will be carried into them. On Sept. 5-16, meanwhile, loaded and empty containers will be delivered out of Oi's berths Nos. 3 and 4 (lessee: Mitsui O.S.K. Lines; operator: UTOC Corp.). Eighteen trucking service providers that are executive members of the Tokyo Trucking Association (TTA)'s Freight Container Specialized Taskforce are scheduled to take part in the project.
