Containerized shipments moved between South Korea and Japan amounted to 744,870 TEUs in January-May, according to the Korea Nearseas Freight Conference (KNFC). They turned upward, growing 0.1% from a year earlier, although they shrank 0.4% in January-April.

Exports from South Korea decreased 1.7% to 422,907 TEUs, but imports to the nation grew 2.4% to 321,963 TEUs. Containers carried in feeder services surged 18.5% to 66,516 TEUs, while transshipment (T/S) containers handled by KNFC members plunged 10.3% to 305,668 TEUs.
