The Port of Nagoya brings about an economic impact of some \56 trillion (US$422.02 billion) and creates jobs for some 2.16 million people nationwide, according to the Nagoya Port Authority (NPA). The port authority has estimated the economic effects the port generates for the entire nation, Aichi Prefecture and the city of Nagoya based on interindustry tables, statistics and surveys conducted among port and harbor operators.

Aichi Prefecture enjoys a ripple effect of about \39 trillion ($293.9 billion), which is equivalent to approximately 46% of its gross product. In Aichi, around 1.4 million workers are engaged in port-related jobs, which account for some 38% of the total number of workers in the prefecture. Aichi earns port-related tax revenues of about \266.1 billion ($2 billion), which is approximately 37% of the prefecture's total tax revenues.
