The Japan Harbor Transportation Association (JHTA) on Thursday resumed its sixth central collective bargaining session of the spring of 2022 port and harbor wage negotiations with the National Federation of Dockworkers Unions of Japan (Zenkoku Kowan) and the Japanese Confederation of Port and Transport Workers' Unions (Koun Domei). However, the parties failed to reach agreement. As individual wage negotiations were still ongoing, Zenkoku Kowan and Koun Domei said they will monitor developments and examine details. Consequently, a second long-term recess was declared. A 24-hour strike scheduled for Sunday will be suspended.
