The Panama Canal Authority (ACP) has raised the draft of the Neopanamax locks at the Panama Canal back to 50 feet (15.24 meters), which was restricted to 49.5 feet (15.09 meters) on March 24. The canal authority will, however, continue to monitor the water level of Gatun Lake.

Now that the lock restriction has been lifted, Suezmax tankers that are fully loaded with crude oil can pass through the Panama Canal. Oil carriers of this class usually require water drafts of 50 feet when carrying one million barrel of crude oil. The canal can now accommodate the passage of 14,500-TEU-capacity Neopanamax containerships as well.
