The U.K. government has postponed again the implementation of strict customs inspections on imports from the European Union (EU) that have been required since the nation withdrew from the union in January 2020. The ongoing grace period will continue through June. London will, however, extend it to the end of 2023 and review the necessity of such inspections. It was the fourth time the introduction had been put off. The decision has brought about discomfort to the port and harbor industry, which is claiming the immeasurable costs that it has incurred for preparation are now in vain.
