The Port of Yokohama processed a total of 2,861,197 TEUs of international and domestic containers in 2021, up 7.5% from the previous year. Containers to and from other countries and regions accounted for 2,571,553 TEUs, up 6.6%. Exports and imports both increased, going up 7% to 1,370,516 TEUs and 6.1% to 1,201,037 TEUs.
Seaborne shipments handled at the port weighed 1,000,480 tons in total, up 11.9%. Foreign-trade shipments totaled 73.99 million tons, up 13.5%, which comprised 28.97 million tons of exports, up 21.3%, and 45.01 million tons of imports, up 8.9%. Meanwhile, those to and from other domestic ports amounted to 30.81 million tons, up 8.5%.
