The composite China Containerized Freight Index (CCFI) stood at 3,425.58 points in Week 8, down 2.12% from the previous week, the Shanghai Shipping Exchange (SSE) has announced. The composite Shanghai Containerized Freight Index (SCFI), meanwhile, fell 2.6% to 4,818.47 points. The CCFI, set at 1,000 points on Jan. 1, 1998, declined for two back-to-back weeks, and the SCFI, set at the same value on Oct. 16, 2009, went down for six consecutive weeks.

Looking at CCFI fluctuations on east-west routes, the index waned 2.3% to 5,589.14 points for containers destined to Europe and 5.2% to 6,135.7 points for those to the Mediterranean. The CCFIs were week on the trade to North America as well, sinking 1.3% to 2,658.14 points for shipments to the east coast and 1.3% to 2,591.78 points for those to the west coast.
