Combined container exports to the U.S. from 10 major countries and regions in Asia increased 4.8% to 1,696,284 TEUs in November, marking a year-on-year improvement for the 17th month in a row and setting a new record for the month in question, Descartes Datamyne has unveiled. In the first 11 months (January-November), a total of 18,834,161 TEUs were moved on the route, which surged 21.7%.

Looking at eastbound container movement in November by origin, exports from China grew 8% to 1,086,966 TEUs, according to the U.S. research company, which has referred to Automated Commercial Environment (ACE) and bill-of-lading (B/L) data provided by the U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP). Containers from Taiwan swelled 4.2% to 80,047 TEUs, while those from India soared a more dramatic 37.3% to 63,079 TEUs. In contrast, exports from South Korea fell 6.4% to 162,125 TEUs, and those from Vietnam plunged a more notable 16.6% to 92,599 TEUs. Coming in ninth place, those from Japan also suffered a double-digit contraction, shrinking 21.8% to 30,332 TEUs.
