In Week 39, the composite China Containerized Freight Index (CCFI) fell 0.5% to 320.55 points from the previous week, the Shanghai Shipping Exchange (SSE) announced on Sept. 30. The composite Shanghai Containerized Freight Index (SCFI), meanwhile, went down 0.6% to 4,614.1 points, marking its first decrease in 21 weeks. The CCFI was set at 1,000 points on Jan. 1, 1998, and the CCFI at the same value on Oct. 16, 2009.

Looking at SCFI fluctuations on major east-west trades, the indexes declined 0.6% to 5,393.79 points for container exports from Shanghai to Europe and levelled off at 6,087.31 points for those to the Mediterranean. The SCFIs depreciated 0.9% to 2,512.38 points on the route to the east coast of North America and 2.4% to 2,217.28 points on that to the west coast.
