In the face of the serious global pandemic, container throughput at Vietnamese ports is getting momentum, handling 16.80 million TEUs in the first eight months of the year, representing a 18.3% increase over the same period of 2020, according to statistics by the Vietnam Maritime Administration (Vinamarine).
During the period, containerized exports spiked 16.3% from a year earlier to 5.40 million TEUs, while containerized imports surged 19.2% on year to 5.50 million TEUs.
Volumes handled at Cai Mep Port totaled 3.20 million TEUs, accounting for two thirds of those processed in South Vietnam ports.
