Total volume of containerized shipments moved between South Korea and Japan amounted to 152,500 TEUs in May, swelling 2% year on year from 149,600 TEUs, according to the Korea Nearsea Freight Conference (KNFC). As for shipments directly traded between the countries, exports from South Korea increased 1% to 31,200 TEUs. Meanwhile, imports from Japan surged 27% to 27,000 TEUs. The remaining 94,300 TEUs were transshipment (T/S) containers carried on the route, down 3%. A notable improvement was registered in container imports from Japan.
