The composite China Containerized Freight Index (CCFI) stood at 1,908.09 points in Week 11, down 0.2% from the previous week’s 1,912.13 points, according to the Shanghai Shipping Exchange (SSE). The Shanghai Containerized Freight Index (SCFI), the index for spot rates for containers shipped out of Shanghai, declined 2% to 2,583.87 points from 2,637.53 points. As these developments show, the indexes both slid from a week earlier for the fourth straight week.

The CCFIs for containers destined to North Europe and the Mediterranean both increased from a week earlier, going up 0.1% to 2,964.14 points and 3.9% to 3,462.82 points, respectively. In contrast, those for containers to North America fell across the board, down 3.95% to 1,464.09 points for exports to the east coast and 2.5% to 1,301.49 points for those to the west coast.

As for the CCFIs for containers traded on north-south routes, they slid 3.9% to 1,810.82 points for those on the Middle East Gulf route but grew 0.8% to 1,569.72 points for those on the Australia and New Zealand route. The indexes picked up 4% to 1,610.2 points for containers to southern Africa and 3.5% to 1,516.62 points for those to western and eastern Africa.

In respect to near-sea trades, the CCFIs increased 0.4% to 896.96 points for exports to Japan and 2.1% to 933.68 points for those to South Korea, but sank 0.9% to 1,442.7 points for those to Southeast Asia.
