The Port of Osaka processed 169,498 TEUs of oceangoing full and empty containers in January, which increased 1% from a year earlier and marked year-on-year growth for three months in a row, according to the city of Osaka’s Port and Harbor Bureau.

Exports enjoyed a double-digit improvement, soaring 11% to 75,688 TEUs, but imports fell 6% to 93,810 TEUs. As for loaded containers, exports surged 13% to 27,960 TEUs, but imports decreased 7% to 92,191 TEUs for a total of 120,151 TEUs, which went down 3%. Empties totaled 49,347 TEUs, which jumped 10%.
