The Shanghai Containerized Freight Index (SCFI) for Week 3 fell 0.6% from the previous week to 2,688,95 points.

Transport demand was stable on the trans-Pacific route, but freight rates to the U.S. East and West coasts both seem to have reached peaks, waning 1% to $4,750 per FEU and 1.5% to $3,995 per FEU, respectively.

Demand was steady for moving containers to the Middle East Gulf, too, but freight rates declined 2.4% to $1,934 per TEU. Those to Australia and New Zealand levelled off at $2,406 per TEU.

On the trade to South America, container fares, which had been on the steep rise, lost momentum last week, going down 0.4% to $8,870 per TEU.

In contrast, the route to Japan was quiet, helping freight rates to Kansai and Kanto reach $246 per TEU and $253 per TEU, respectively, both of which improved 0.8%.
