The combined volume of containerized shipments carried directly and in feeder services between South Korea and China in 2020 amounted to 3,299,798 TEUs, which improved 3.9% from the previous year, according to statistics compiled by the Yellow Sea Liner Shipping Council (YSLSC). Those traded between the economies accounted for 3,016,672 TEUs, up 3.4%, while those moved on the route as feeder containers filled in the balance of 283,126 TEUs, up 8.7%.

Containers carried from South Korea to China numbered 1,259,969 TEUs in total, up 5.3%, of which 1,159,262 TEUs were moved locally on the trade, up 4.4%. Feeder containers were more massive, surging 13.8% to 100,407 TEUs.

Those from China to South Korea, meanwhile, totaled 2,040,129 TEUs, up 3%. Imports from China to South Korea accounted for 1,857,410 TEUs, up 2.7%, while the remaining 182,719 TEUs were feeder shipments, up 6.1%.
