The port of Singapore handled 49.86 million tons, with a decline of -5.1% on the same month last year which constitutes the seventh consecutive month of decrease. Container traffic alone achieved a positive growth of 1.1% year on year to 31.23 million tons, representing the new record for the month of October. In terms of twenty-foot equivalent unit (TEU), the port moved record 3.24 million TEUs, up 0.1% from the same period last year.

In the first ten months of this year, the port handled a total of 490.81 million tons of goods, with a contraction of 5.8% over the same period in 2019. Containerized shipments decline 2.1% from a year earlier to 295.6 million tons. In TEU, the volume slipped by 0.8% on year to 30.47 million TEUs.
