Containerized shipments exported from Japan to China increased a notable 12.5% to 883,415 tons in July, thanks to growth in pulp and containerboard, registering the first year-on-year improvement since February 2019, according to the Japan Maritime Center (JMC). In terms of value, they rose 9.4% to ¥721 billion

As for imports from China to Japan, on the other hand, the JMC indicated that negative growth was marked for almost all commodities, referring to trade statistics provided by the Ministry of Finance (MOF). More specifically, they plunged 16% to 1,672,590 tons, incurring the year-on-year contraction for three months in a row. On a value scale, they fell 10.3% to ¥1.057 trillion, suffering the first year-on-year decrease in four months.
