Containerized exports to the U.S. from 10 major countries and regions in Asia swelled 1.8% year on year to a total of 1,556,116 TEUs in July, setting a new record for the month in question, according to Descartes Datamyne. In the first seven months (January-July), 8,745,617 TEUs were traded on the route, down 6.8% year on year.

Referring to the U.S. Automated Commercial Environment (ACE) and bill-of-lading (B/L) data provided by the U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP), the U.S. research company said that in July, China exported 975,551 TEUs to the U.S., up 6.3%. As for those from other economies, 145,649 TEUs were shipped from South Korea, down 6.8%. Containers from Vietnam surged 19.4% to 120,006 TEUs. Those from Taiwan plunged 15.9% to 79,901 TEUs. Exports from Singapore grew 7.2% to 62,735 TEUs. Japan was responsible for 33,246 TEUs, down 27.1%, finishing in eighth place on the list.
