The Shanghai Containerized Freight Index (SCFI) for Week 32 hiked 0.4% from the previous week to 1,107,39 points, the Shanghai Shipping Exchange (SSE) said.

Spot rates for shipments from Shanghai to Europe improved 1% to $910 per TEU. Those for containers destined to the Mediterranean also increased mildly, rising 0.5% to $940 per TEU. On the trade route to the U.S., shipments were moved at a rate of $3,504 per FEU to the east coast of North America and $3,144 per FEU to the west coast, which fell 0.3% and 0.7%, respectively.

Freight rates for containers bound for the Middle East Gulf swelled 4.3% to $783 per TEU, while those for shipments to Australia and New Zealand climbed 1.1% to $1,094 per TEU. Rates increased minutely on the South America trade as well, growing 0.4% to $963 per TEU.

To Japan, fares remained nearly unchanged again at $231 per TEU for containers to Kansai and $238 per TEU for those to Kanto.
