The Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) has signed loan agreements with the Cambodian government in Phnom Penh to provide Japanese ODA loans of up to a total of 29.417 billion yen for the following two projects.
National Road No. 5 Improvement Project (Prek Kdam - Thlea Ma'am Section) (III) (loan amount: 11.715 billion yen)
(2) National Road No. 5 Improvement Project (Thlea Ma'am - Battambang and Sri Sophorn - Poipet Sections) (II) (loan amount: 17.702 billion yen)
Completion of project is slated for March 2022 when the roads are put into service.
The objective of the project is to increase the transportation capacity as well as to improve the logistic efficiency of the sections between Thlea Ma'am and Battambang, and Sri Sophorn and Poipet along National Road No. 5 which connects the Phnom Penh Capital and the Thai border.
