Containers moved from South Korea to China in June amounted to 90,372 TEUs, which decreased from the 91,953 TEUs carried on the trade a year earlier and registered the first year-on-year contraction in five months, according to statistics compiled by the Yellow Sea Liner Shipping Council (YSLSC). Those from China to South Korea, meanwhile, totaled 154,983 TEUs, which swelled 8.5% from 142,818 TEUs. Feeder containers numbered 23,401 TEUs, surging 56.6%. As a consequence, the overall volume of containerized shipments transported between the economies stood at 268,756 TEUs, which rose 7.6%.

On an accumulated scale, 1,534,606 TEUs were handled on the route in the first half (January-June), up 6.8% year on year. As for local containers, 570,545 TEUs were transported westbound, up 2.5%, while eastbound shipments accounted for 964,061 TEUs, up 5.3%. Feeder containers soared 48% to 123,857 TEUs.
