The Port of Yokohama processed a total of 35.49 million tons of shipments in the first 10 months (January-October) of 2018, up 4.2% from a year earlier, according to preliminary statistics compiled by the city of Yokohama’s Port and Harbor Bureau. Container lifting was favorable in terms of number as well, rising 3.9% to 2,505,852 TEUs. In breakdown, oceangoing containers swelled 4.5% to 33.14 million tons, and on a TEU scale, they hiked 4.1% to 2,246,712 TEUs. Exports accounted for 1,192,712 TEUs, up 3.6%, and 1,054,540 TEUs of imports, up 4.8%. In October alone, 272,916 TEUs were moved to and from Yokohama, up 15.3%.
