Taiwan’s international container ports handled a total of 15,321,722 TEUs of containers in 2018, growing 2.75 % year on year, according to statistics compiled by the state’s Ministry of Transportation and Communications (MOTC).
By major port, Kaohsiung was responsible for 10,445,726 TEUs, up 1.7%. To and from Keelung, 1,471,865 TEUs were moved, up 3.77%. Taipei handled 1,659,999 TEUs, up 6.27%. Taichung processed 1,744,126 TEUs, up 5.03%. As these figures show, growth was larger at Taipei than any other.
