The Port of Los Angeles processed 952,554 TEUs in October 2018, a 27.2 percent increase compared to October 2017. It was the most cargo handled in a single month in the port's 111-year history, eclipsing the November 2017 record of 924,225 TEUs.

October 2018 imports increased 26.7 percent to 485,824 TEUs compared to the previous year. Exports increased 20.5 percent to 173,824 TEUs, while empty containers increased 25 percent to 292,906 TEUs. Combined, October overall volumes were 952,554 TEUs.

Ten months into 2018, overall volumes have increased 1.1 percent to 7.7 million TEUs compared to 2017 when the Port set an all-time annual cargo record.
