Containerized shipments from Japan to China increased 6.6% from a year earlier to 1,104,716 tons in June, enjoying a year-on-year improvement for two back-to-back months, according to data compiled by the Japan Maritime Center (JMC) from trade statistics unveiled by the Ministry of Finance (MOF). On a value scale, they surged 12% to Y803.8 billion, posting a year-on-year increase for four months in a row.

Imports from China to Japan, meanwhile, fell 7.3% to 1,820,041 tons, suffering the first year-on-year decline in two months. In terms value, in contrast, they managed to swell 1.7% to Y1.075 trillion.
