Container throughput at the Port of Hong Kong continued to slide in July, waning 7.9% overall to 1.642 million TEUs, marking the six straight month of decline.
Box volumes at the main Kwai Tsing terminals actually fell 8.1% and non-Kwai Tsing terminals saw throughput shrink 6.9% to 350,000 TEUs from a year earlier.
For the first seven months, overall throughput decreased 4.4% to 11.49 million TEUs while the number of boxes moving through the Kwai Tsing terminals dropped 4.2% to 9.049 million TEUs. Non-Kwai Tsing terminals handled 5.2% less volumes to 2.45 million TEUs.
